Martha, I had the chance to visit Francis Bacon's studio, which was transported from London and put back together exactly as it was in the Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin. Here it is.
Went to the Calder exhibit at Seattle Art Museum. His desk was just a small part of the grand storm of the studio where he put together the mobiles, etc. It's an amazing show, btw. I wonder where it travels to next? It's here in Seattle thru April 2010.
Like Anne Sexton, the business of words often keeps me awake. My favorite tulip? Queen of the Night. My books include The Little Office of the Immaculate Conception & Reckless Lovely. I also wrote a book of 366 writing prompts, one for every day of the year, with Kelli Russell Agodon: The Daily Poet. I teach at Bellevue College.

That is so awesome!!! Thanks for sharing. (Someone should do a coffee table book: photos of famous desks!
Yeah, and this was actually a whole garage sized room that looked like this! Sure makes me feel better about the state of my own little studio.

It's like having my brain displayed on your blog in black and white ...
And what a lovely thing your brain is.
If Calder's show is coming down to the Bay Area next, I'll try and get up there and see it.
